Personal Independent Study Project

This allows students to learn about a topic in great depth.

It is used after the required work is completed as a result of curriculum compacting.

1. Using the topic browsing planner (p. 153), have the student pursue a topic that interests them.

2. Using the Product Choices Chart (p. 80) have the student choose the product for the pursuit of the topic of interest.

3. Discuss the parameters of completing this work using the personal interest independent study project agreement and the self-evaluation checklist (pp. 164- 165)

4. Discuss the rubric and/or grading policy for the product produced as a result of the independent project.

You can use the Evaluation Contract (p. 74)

5. Have the student keep a daily log of the work they accomplish.
